Quiet Clean for iPhone ยท Last updated October 28, 2026

If you downloaded Quiet Clean from the App Store, nothing about you or your photos ever leaves your iPhone. The App Store version has no voice recording, never uses your microphone and never uploads anything.

In short: Quiet Clean does not collect any data. Your photos and videos are analyzed on your iPhone and stay there. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. The one exception is only for beta testers: test versions installed through TestFlight have an optional voice-feedback button, described in its own section below.

Who we are

Quiet Clean is made by Joshua Young (publishing as Boxwick). In this policy, "we" means the developer of Quiet Clean.

Your photos and videos

Deleting and shrinking items

Quiet Clean only removes or replaces items after you confirm, through Apple's own system prompt. Removed items go to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app, where you can recover them for up to 30 days before iOS removes them permanently. When you make a video smaller, the smaller copy is created on your iPhone and keeps the original's date, place, favorite status and albums, and the original goes to Recently Deleted. If you choose "Review later", Quiet Clean adds those items to a "Review later" album in your Photos library and deletes nothing.

Data stored on your device

To work properly, Quiet Clean keeps a small amount of information in its own storage on your iPhone. This includes a scan index (item IDs, sizes and dates, so the next scan is faster), saved similar-photo groups and face check results, your current selections and the items you chose to keep, and a record of what each cleanup moved to Recently Deleted (kept for 30 days). It never stores copies of your photos, except a smaller video copy while it waits for you to confirm it. This stays on your device (and in your own device backups, if you use them). We cannot see it. Deleting the app removes it.

Reminders and storage alerts

If you turn them on, Quiet Clean can send you a monthly tidy-up reminder and an alert when your iPhone's storage is almost full. Both are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. To check for the storage alert, iOS lets Quiet Clean read how much free space your device has from time to time in the background. Nothing is sent anywhere. You can turn these off in the app or in iOS Settings.

Purchases

In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your name, payment details or Apple Account information. Quiet Clean is unlocked with a one-time purchase. The app checks with Apple's StoreKit on your device to confirm whether you've unlocked it, and Restore Purchases asks Apple to bring back a purchase you already made. See Apple's privacy policy for how Apple handles purchases.

Voice feedback: beta testers only (TestFlight)

This section applies only to people testing early versions of Quiet Clean through Apple's TestFlight app. If you got Quiet Clean from the App Store, none of this applies to you: the App Store version has no voice feedback, does not use your microphone and does not upload anything.

Test versions show a small voice-feedback dot so testers can tell us what they think. Nothing is recorded unless you tap it, and iOS asks for microphone permission first. When you tap it again (or stop talking for a minute, or leave the app), your recording is sent to a feedback service we run on Cloudflare, along with the name of the screen you were on, the app version and build, your iPhone model, your iOS version and the time. It never includes your photos, your name or your Apple Account. We use these recordings only to improve Quiet Clean. They are deleted automatically after 90 days, and may also be emailed to us.

What we don't do

Children

Quiet Clean is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

If you email us

If you contact support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and use it only to reply to you. Please don't send photos unless you want to.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. If the app ever starts collecting data, this page will say so before that version is released.
